The Teachers page
Define your teachers and mark which courses each one can teach. Later, in the solver, teachers can only be assigned to courses they're qualified for.
Quick start
- Click Teachers to add one or more teachers (one name per line).
- On each teacher's card, click the qualifications button and tick the courses they can teach.
- Optionally set their maximum teaching load (sessions per week).
What this page is for
Every teacher you add can be qualified for one or more courses. A teacher's qualifications come straight from the courses you defined in the Study Plan — so make sure your study plan has courses before you try to qualify anyone.
When the page is empty you'll see Add teachers to get started.
Adding teachers
You can add several teachers at once — one name per line.
- Click Teachers (the add button) at the top of the page.
- In the Add teachers dialog — Enter one name per line — type names into the Teacher names box, like: John Smith, Mary Beth, David Wilson, each on its own line.
- A preview shows how many you're about to add (3 teachers will be added). Click Add 3 teachers, or Cancel.
Names must be unique — duplicates are flagged with Names must be unique and block the add.
The teacher card at a glance
Each teacher appears as a card. From it you can see and manage everything about them:
- The name — click it to rename.
- A trash button to remove the teacher.
- Their maximum teaching load (max sessions per week).
- A medal with a number showing how many courses they're qualified to teach.
- A button to choose those courses — labelled Choose which courses they can teach until you've picked some.
A teacher with no qualifications yet gets a yellow border as a reminder — they can't be assigned to anything until you qualify them.
Choosing what a teacher can teach
Mark the courses each teacher is qualified for. The courses are organized by level and grade, so you can qualify a teacher broadly or precisely.
- On the teacher's card, click Choose which courses they can teach (it later reads 2 courses selected, and so on).
- Tick the courses. The list is a tree of Level → Grade → Course — ticking a level or grade selects everything under it, which is a quick way to qualify a teacher for a whole grade at once.
- Use Show selected only to hide everything except what's already ticked, making it easy to review.
- To remove a qualification, simply untick the course.
Don't see any courses to pick? That grade or level has no courses in the Study Plan yet — add them there first.
Maximum teaching load
The teaching load caps how many sessions per week a teacher can be given, so the solver won't overload anyone.
- Set the project-wide default with Maximum teaching load at the top of the page — it applies to every teacher.
- To give one teacher a different cap, edit the load number on their card. An overridden teacher is marked, and you can use the reset button (Remove override) to return them to the default.
Finding teachers
Once you have a long list, search and filters help you focus.
- Type in Search teachers... to filter by name.
- Use the filter to show All, Qualified (teachers with at least one course), or Unqualified (teachers still needing courses).
- A count like 3 of 10 shows how many match your current search and filter.
The Unqualified filter is a handy way to spot anyone you still need to set up.
Renaming & deleting teachers
- Click a teacher's name to rename it; confirm with the check, or cancel with the close button.
- Click the trash button and confirm — Are you sure you want to delete …? This action cannot be undone.
How this feeds the solver
What you set here shapes what's possible later:
- In the solver, a teacher can only be assigned to courses they're qualified for — their dropdown shows only those courses.
- A teacher with no qualifications can't be assigned anything, so make sure everyone who should teach has at least one course ticked.
- The automatic solve also respects each teacher's maximum teaching load, spreading work without overloading anyone.
Warnings you may see here
When something on this page needs attention, a warning triangle appears next to Teachers in the navigation bar; hover it to see the details (how the triangles work is explained in The warning triangles on the Summary page). The warnings this page can raise:
Requirement without qualified Teacher Critical
A course required by a grade's study plan has nobody able to teach it. Open a teacher's card, click Choose which courses they can teach, and tick that course. The schedule can't be built while a required course has no qualified teacher.
Teacher without Qualifications
This teacher can't be assigned to anything yet (their card also shows a yellow border as a reminder). Tick at least one course they can teach, or remove them if they shouldn't be scheduled.
No Teachers
There is nobody to schedule yet. Add your teachers with the Teachers button; solving stays disabled until the project has at least one teacher.
