The AI Assistant

A chat that knows your project, answers your questions, and does things for you.

The AI Assistant is included with some plans — if you don't see the button, your plan doesn't include it.

Quick start

This is the button to look for:

  1. Click the AI Assistant button and the chat opens at the side.
  2. Type what you need in your own words, and press Enter.
  3. Read the answer, reply to continue the conversation, or close the panel when you're done.

What can it do?

The assistant can help you in four ways:

  1. Answer questions about how to use the app. Ask how something works and it will explain, right where you're working.
  2. Answer questions about your current project. It knows your project and its schedules, so it can answer anything you could figure out by reading through them yourself, without the digging.
  3. Make changes for you. It can perform some changes on the page where you opened it. Tell it what you want and it does the clicking.
  4. Help you think through problems. Describe a problem in your own words and work it out together: it can propose options, check them against your project, and refine the plan with you step by step.

Example prompts

Anywhere the assistant appears:

  • “How do I make a course take two sessions in a row?”

On the Solver page:

  • “Mr. García can't work on Tuesdays. Make me a list of all the teachers who would be available to replace him.”
  • “Let's make a list of the classes that need a computer lab. Suggest candidates and I'll confirm each one.” And once the list is agreed: “I only have two labs. Help me move assignments so that no more than two of these classes run at the same time.”

Eco or Super?

Above the message box there's a switch with two modes. Eco, the default, answers faster and costs less: the right choice for most questions. Super uses our most capable model: pick it for complex problems, like working through a tricky rearrangement with many constraints. The switch applies per message, so you can ask routine questions on Eco and flip to Super just for the hard one, in the same conversation.

Credits

The assistant runs on credits, shared by your whole organization. Above the message box you'll see how many you have left, the date they refill, and a gauge that drains as they're used. Bigger requests use more credits than small ones, and Super costs more than Eco. Credits refill monthly, and unused credits don't carry over: each month starts fresh at your plan's amount. If you run out, the assistant pauses until the refill date; everything else in the app keeps working normally.

Conversations

Your conversation is saved as you go: close the panel, refresh, or come back tomorrow and it picks up where you left off. It's yours alone; teammates using the assistant have their own conversations. Each page where the assistant appears also keeps its own conversation, focused on that page's work. The assistant replies in the language the conversation was started in; if you switch the app's language, start a new conversation to switch the assistant too.

One recommendation that saves you credits: when you change topic, start a new conversation with the restart button at the top of the panel. The assistant re-reads the entire conversation every time you send a message, so a long conversation makes every reply cost more, even for a simple question. A fresh conversation is the cheap one.

When it takes a while

Some requests finish in seconds; others make the assistant do real work, like running the Wizard, and can take a few minutes. While it works you'll see a timer, and the message box waits until it finishes. You don't have to watch it: the work runs on the server, so you can close the panel or leave the page and come back later; the conversation will have the result.
